After-School Program
Where Learning Meets Fun
Our after-school program has grown to serve nearly 200 students each day! Between school buses and Baker Youth Club (BYC) buses, children are transported from all schools in the Warsaw Community Schools district.
We provide an after-school snack, dinner, homework help, a variety of physical activities, STEM activities, arts and crafts, and more. This daily after-school routine gives children a chance to be a kid while providing them with a safe environment to grow and thrive.
Need to contact us? Our office staff is available when the doors open at 6:30am M-F and again daily from 3-6:30pm. During summer camp, we can be reached from 7am – 5:30pm.
K-3 Reading Program
If your child attends kindergarten, first, second, or third grade, they will be a part of our reading program once they arrive after school. Reading every day is crucial for children, as it encourages language development, improves literacy skills, boosts academic performance, and encourages imagination and creativity.
Helping your child create a daily ready habit from an early age can instill a lifelong love of learning, empowering them to explore new ideas, pursue their interests in new ways, and increase their self-esteem.
Our staff can also assist with IREAD 3 prep, helping set your child up for success.
STEM Activities
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) activities are designed to spark your child’s curiosity, foster creativity, and help them develop critical thinking skills. From hands-on experiments to engineering challenges, our STEM activities provide students with exciting opportunities to explore.
STEM opportunities can also include participating in our Lego and chess clubs.
Arts & Crafts
Whether your child is interested in painting, drawing, sculpture, or making collages, our arts and crafts sessions are designed to inspire young artists to unleash their imaginations and express themselves. Artistic activities are a wonderful way for your child to develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness.
Arts and crafts activities empower students to embrace their creativity, build confidence, and take pride in what they create through artistic expression.
Physical Activities
After being in school all day, we understand that your student might need to move around! Physical activity is important to promote not only physical health, but mental health and well-being as well. We have two gyms, a game room, and a soccer room to ensure your child can move as much as they want to!
Through a variety of dynamic and engaging activities, our staff’s goal is to encourage regular exercise, help your child develop motor skills, and instill a lifelong appreciation for active living. Whether your child loves playing soccer, basketball, volleyball, or wants to just run around with their friends, there’s something for everyone to enjoy at BYC.
Homework Help
Our homework help rooms are available from 3:00 – 6:30pm so your child can get assistance with their assignments. Our retired teachers, caring adults, and college students majoring in education are ready to help them complete their homework, no matter the subject, so you can rest assured that they aren’t falling behind.
Whether it’s tackling math problems, writing essays, or studying for tests, our program offers a structured and supportive environment where students can receive the help they need to excel academically. We work hard to create a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere where every student feels valued, supported, and equipped to reach their full potential in school and beyond.
Middle & High School Students
We love to help students grow toward adulthood. We do our best to teach them to make wise choices through adult mentors and life skills coaching. In addition to homework help and food, we reserve the café for middle and high school students to study, socialize, and grow healthy friendships.

Close (Close at 6:00pm on Fridays)
If there is a 2-hour school delay, the Before School program will operate as normal for the extra 2-hours at no additional charge. If the 2-hour delay turns into a cancellation, BYC will remain open until 5:30PM, for an additional $40 fee.
If school is canceled the night before, BYC will be closed that day.
However, in the event of extreme weather conditions or certain unanticipated developments or conditions, BYC may determine that it is in the best interest of its members or staff to close in the event of a school delay or cancellation. If BYC decides to close, it will make every attempt to decide by 6:15am so parents can make alternative arrangements.
Please follow BYC’s Facebook page for the most up-to-date delay and cancellation information and call 574-267-8771 for additional information.
